Strasburg leads national team to World Championships title game
Former Torrington Twister pitcher Stephen Strasburg struck out 9 in 7 innings to lead the U.S. National Team to the 2008 FISU World Championships title game in Brno, Czech Republic, according to USA Baseball's Web site.
USA defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 behind Strasburg's dominating performance. In 7 innings pitched, Strasburg gave up just 2 hits, striking out 9 while walking 2. Strasburg threw 98 pitches, 69 of which were strikes. Team USA is 23-0. This collection of college players make up the same team that played two games earlier this summer at Fuessenich Park.
USA dominated the Twisters in exhibition game and defeated the Chinese Olympic team 7-1. Strasburg was selected for the USA Olympic Team's roster.
