Chase Austin, Elon, to play in NCAA's
Sophomore infielder Chase Austin will be making an appearance in the NCAA tournament with Elon University as they play in the Cary, N.C. regional, according to the NCAA Web site.
In the Southern Conference tournament championship against the College of Charleston, Austin went 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs and a walk as the Phoenix won the title, according to Elon's Web site. In the game before against UNC Greensboro, Austin went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, 4 RBIs and a run scored.
In the second game of the tourney for the Phoenix, Austin went 4-for-5 with a home run, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored against Georgia Southern. In the first game of the tournament for Elon, Austin went 2-for-5 with a double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
For the tournament, Austin hit .650 (13-for-20) with a home run, 3 doubles and 12 RBIs. Austin was named to the all-conference tournament team, according to the conference Web site.
